Birches?

The carpeting behind me, or beneath me, or whatever, the day now stretches ahead of me. Time to explore a little.

As it's so early in the year, lots of light gets in past the still leafless birches. Later in the season, when shade will be welcome, there'll be much more of it. Funny how that works.

We don' need no steenking birches

Actually, we do need the steeking birches. They're a welcome relief from the dense balsam and cedar.

On such a sunny spring day, with no shade to dapple the effect, they are dazzling.
