If there are two things that define the Owen Sound area, and the Bruce Peninsula in general, at least naturally, they are surely snow, and sedimentary rock. The former falls in tremendous quantity due to lake effect, while the latter causes it to drain very poorly, instead encouraging the spring melt to tumble gleefully down the escarpment in the direction of our basement.
