I’ve been playing with a fun little mashup between Flickr and Google Maps called geotagging. It actually has wider implications beyond this, into GPS and so on, but the Flickr connection is what drew me in. Let’s say I have a photo on Flickr, like this one:
What I can do is go to a tool like BeeLoop geotagr or YUAN. CC Maps and navigate their implementaion of Google Maps to the location where the photo was taken. Then you copy and paste the tags from geotagr, or better, let Yuan CC Maps automatically update your tags in Flickr, including putting a link in the description so that others may also find the location. Very cool. You can even see on the satellite view the two tones of the water where the rivers meet.
